December 27 2007: I expected much more from this Kimpton Hotel. Having stayed at two other hotels in the Kimpton group, I thought that 70 Park Avenue would be a fairly safe bet. However, our room and the bathroom were so miniscule, I felt claustrophobic even though there were only two of us with two overnight bags. I also really dislike when there are no horizontal surfaces to set anything in the bathroom. Where are you supposed to put your toothpaste while you're brushing your teeth?! The real clincher was when Chris and I went, hungover (that wasn't the hotel's fault), to eat the buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The breakfast was only open to hotel guests, so we naturally didn't see prices anywhere. The eggs were cold and there was a small assortment of muffins and fruit. The worst part was when I went to check out of the room, we had a $56 charge for breakfast! $28 each! I know that this is New York, but I thought that was absolutely ridiculous, especially considering the spread. When I mentioned to the front desk that I was not pleased and that they should display pricing the receptionist said that he didn't have any control over it...not good customer service.

March 8 2008: The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. The walls were rather thin and we heard many conversations from other rooms. Our room was nice but all the lights were not working well. The bathroom was very small.
