September 7 2007: Anton's on the Lake bills itself as a "Country Inn and Marina"; inexpensive roadside motel would be more accurate. The setting is very picturesque if you come at the right time of year. Unfortunately, we visited between seasons, in March, after the snow bunnies had bolted and before the summer folks had arrived with their boats and bathing suits. So we found it a little desolate, too dreary without the snow and still too cold to enjoy the lake. The family that runs the place was pleasant and attentive. The rooms were sparely furnished, but the heating helped make them seem cozier and there was no shortage of extra blankets and comforters to take the chill off. The owners were happy to provide free videotape borrowing and a bottle of wine at cost, as well as discount tickets to a nearby day-spa, just the thing for my wife while my son and I hit what little snow was left on the slopes. Would visit again.
