Great St. Remy Chateau
Luxurious, Romantic, Classic, Scenic
This is the first review written about this hotelJuly 19 2007: Chateau des Alpilles is a beautiful chateau about half a mile outside of the town of St. Remy.  Rooms are expensive particularly when converting into weak dollar, but the experience is well worth it.  You enter the chateau along a beautiful tree lined path and the grounds are great with nice pool and tennis court.  The rooms are luxurious with large bathrooms, and the staff is very attentive.  Weather permitting you are able to eat outside at the classic french restaurant which I would definitely recommend.  You can also rent bikes from the chateau which is a great way to see the region.

Absolute Heaven in Provence
Luxurious, Romantic, Classic, Historic, Scenic, Golf, Shopping, Tennis, Sightseeing, Water Sports, Gourmets, Honeymooners, Families, Tourists
July 20 2007: Chateau des Alpilles welcomed us the moment we walked in. The staff was incredibly friendly and always helpful and eager to suggest activities. The hotel is about a half mile walk into St. Remy. The town is perfect - small and quaint with all Provencal charm yet has a variety of restaurants, great shopping and art galleries. St. Remy is located close to Avignon, Arles, Les Baux, Gordes and a bit of a drive to Mersaille.  If you go in June-Sept, you are treated to fields of lavender and sunflowers.

The rooms were huge, filled with antiques and Provencal decor. The chic bathrooms were modern and classy, unlike the traditional euro style.

The grounds are like a park and perfect for strolling around and exploring. There is a pool for lounging and tennis courts for an afternoon match.

The restaurant was great, and the location made it even better as we sat outside in front of the chateau, looking down a lane a double row of plane trees and listened to the sound of the cigalles. There was a nice selection of local dishes on the menu made from local favorites (including the tastiest olive oil to dip from a local grove!)

The rates are pricey but worth every penny/euro if you are craving a fantastic treat. The stay was flawless and the highlight of our latest vacation. I would go back in a heartbeat.
