I'll take any excuse to be near the water - even better if it's warm. When I travel, I love to be outside, preferably with a beautiful, luxe hotel room to look forward to returning to. Other loves: epic thunderstorms and a particular 2.5 mile stretch of beach in the Caribbean

August 10 2008: Big behemoth hotels are not really my cup of tea, but given that I was staying here for business, the Four Seasons Amman was quite nice. My room was lovely, in a Four Seasons kind of way---nothing quirky or personalized, but not a hint of shabbiness to be found either. And the hotel's service was impeccable. The spa is also great, but what makes it even more noteworthy is the generous opening hours, from 6am - 10pm. Even the most interminable of meetings give you time to slip away for a treatment with those hours. The gym was also very well equipped.
I spent most of my time here cooped up in a conference room for meetings, but even that wasn't such a bad experience. The leather seats were comfy and the catered food was good.
The best feature of all is the indoor/outdoor swimming pool. It's the next best thing to taking a dip in the actual Mediterranean Sea.
