Hip boutique hotel...

June 8 2008: I stayed here one night for business after seeing a good review from Adam on here. Great location in meat packing district. Hip, trendy boutique hotel. Great views of the city on rooftop lounge. Beds are comfy. Minimalistic modern rooms with groovy electric shades. I love this feature in hotels. Baths clean and sleek. Exceptional service & friendly staff. Complimentary wifi. Breakfast buffet was good and the spa looked nice but I did not indulge. I did not really take advantage of the lounge or party scene. Def a fun place to go and would def stay here again.

Cool crib in the middle of Meatpacking

This is the first review written about this hotelMay 13 2008: The Gansevoort is for cool kids.  I stayed there on a Saturday night.  I was able to pull my car up to the front, and for a mere $40, the valet made my car disappear.  There was a line of clubbers out the door waiting to get up to the club on the top floor of this modern hotel smack dab in the middle of the Meatpacking district on 9th and 14th in Manhattan.  It's kinda cool to be able to walk through the doors and check in knowing so many seek the privilege to do the same.  Kinda.

Don't stay at the Gansevoort if you are trying to get away from the crowds, or if you can't handle a little ambient noise in your room at night from the crowds milling below looking for the next DJ.  The Gansevoort is cool - slick appointed rooms, electric shades, fully stocked mini bar, recessed lighting, steel sinks, dimly lit hallways, tv in the elevator, etc.  The hotel also features a spa which doubles as a nightclub at night, and a rooftop pool, which is especially fun in the summer time as it adjoins a hopping bar.

The bed was very comfortable, although not as comfortable as the mattress at the Mandarin Oriental in DC.  The bathroom amenities were A+, and all aspects of the room furnishings, including the flat panel LCD, were solid.  You can even listen to the Gansevoort CD mix, and add it to your bill at the end of your stay (I didn't) - but beware the Fiji water by your bedside is $8 if you decide to imbibe.  Another nicety - free WIFI.

Overall, good fun, definitely would stay here again.
