Done a fair amount of backpacking around in my time. Travelled in S-E Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America and the US. Like my travelling to be cheap, but not grimy (been there, done that!) ,and am on the lookout for great rooms at fair prices.
Business People, Not Luxurious, Not Hip, Not Lively, Not Stylish
August 3 2007: I stayed in the Senator for a conference in Barcelona. The hotel itself was very near the confernece centre (Hotel Rey Juan Carlos), and for that it was handy. However, it is quite a distance from the centre (10E taxi), about a 15 min walk to a subway station, and there are no decent restaurants nearby. The breakfast selection isn't great, I never managed to get any coffee either. The room itself was reasonably nice - basic, but did. The pool on the roof is also rather small. Couldn't honestly say that there is much great about it, and certainly not the 4 stars that it claims to.
The Senator Barcelona is a new building built in 2001, located in Barcelona, not far from the Camp Nou Barcelona's football pitch. The hotel is the perfect venue both for business people and tourists alike because it offers a wide array of services and facilities such as a 24-hour front desk, complimentary Wi-Fi Internet connection in common areas and rooms, two panoramic lifts, an outdoor swimming pool at the 8th floor, four meeting lounges and four business centres, room service from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., a spa centre, a cafeteria/lounge bar and a restaurant. Baby sitting service is available upon request.
