June 19 2007: Hotel Vitale was a great place - good location, fantastic service, great ambiance and attention to detail (the Bose Wave Radio was playing very cool tunes every evening when I returned to the room). Bed was super comfortable and the room was nicely laid out. Bar downstairs was constantly busy, but like most joints in SF, shut down early. Only downside was the price ($300+ a night) - but well worth it. One of my favorite hotels...

Location. Opened in 2005, the Hotel Vitale a Luxury Joie de Vivre is a premier bay front property located across the street from the revitalized Embarcadero waterfront in San Francisco, Calif. The Embarcadero Shopping Center is located one block away. Hotel Features. This property was highlighted on the 2007 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List and on the 2007 Travel + Leisure 500 list. The modernist lobby features pine paneling, limestone columns and a still life painted reception desk. Americano Restaurant features a circular bar and an outdoor patio that are popular with after work locals. Chef Paul Arenstam oversees an Italian and California influenced menu with featured temptations such as shaved squash pizzetas and steak stuffed with trumpet mushrooms. The hotel offers 1,700 square feet of function space. Hotel wide wireless Internet access is complimentary. A business center houses four computer stations. The 24 hour complimentary fitness center offers cardiovascular and strength training equipment while a penthouse studio offers daily complimentary yoga classes. Spa Vitale offers treatments such as the lavender, organic sugar San Francisco Treat massage, and essential oil aromatherapies.
Guestrooms. Lavender scented hallways lead to 199 guestrooms located on eight floors. Beds feature pillow top mattresses draped with 440 thread count linens and down comforters. Décor includes soft mint blue and pale green fabrics, and original works of art. Room highlights include lounging divans and expansive city and bay view picture windows. Technological advancements feature wall mounted LCD flat screen televisions, CD players and IPOD/MP3 docking stations. Guestroom amenities include complimentary laptop compatible safes and minibars. DVD players and coffee/tea makers are available on request. Wired high speed and wireless Internet access is complimentary. Bathrooms feature makeup mirrors and designer bath products by Fresh.
Expert Tip. Two private rooftop soaking tubs are shielded by tall, leafy bamboo plants. Spa attendants draw guests' baths, adding natural herbs that further enhance this serene experience. Clothing is optional.
