Love the outdoors - flyfishing, hunting, hiking, biking. Big fan of South America. Recent weddings has def upped my hotel visits. I loathe resorts, unless it's mainly outdoorsy/active-oriented. I have a 2 day limit of sitting on the beach.
June 22 2007: Nice rooms. Complimentary breakfast - good spread. Doing construction on facade so check on that. Could be noisy. Stylish lobby. Great service.

November 27 2007: I spent about 30 nights in this hotel between September and October 2007. The Hyatt on Sunset is known as the Riot House for its notorious past with rock bands staying here. It's not a quiet hotel, as the front rooms face Sunset Blvd, and the hotel is currently under construction. It has a dated feeling to it in 2007, but I think once the renovation is complete (2008?) this will be a great property. The only reason to stay here at this point is location - it's right on the strip, not too far from LAX or BUR airports.
Entertainment: the restaurant is ok, but there are a group of restaurants (walking distance) down the road on the 8600 block that are excellent and have much better ambience - this area is known as the Sunset Plaza. The Hyatt is also flanked by The Comedy Store on one side and the Saddle Ranch on the other - the latter has a mechanical bull which provides amusement while you eat some pretty good ribs.
Get upgraded to a junior suite if you can - the corner rooms are pretty cool, and have a small fishtank...
