Wanderlust. If I haven't been there yet, sign me up. If I have been there already, I'm unlikely to return simply because it's a big world and I only have so much time.
February 5 2008: A good place to unwind in the desert. Located no more than a half hour West of the Strip, this resort's pool area is expansive, shaded, waterfall-filled, cabana-laced and tranquil. The resort set-up is for conventions, with the hall centered between two main hotel buildings. A casino contractor operates a large but rather sad/tired operation, also located centrally. The rooms are well appointed and quiet. A solid stay; would earn 4 stars if I were a bigger fan of sprawling resort layouts.
Date of stay: September 2007
Purpose of stay: Business
August 24 2007: My wife and I stayed at this hotel for a "Weekend to Remember" conference held by Family Life. There were over 400 couples in attendance.
The hotel was great as long as you didn't get too close to the casino (real smokey). Plenty of restaurants on-site and a plethora more within a mile or two.
This hotel is anout 10 miles from the "Strip" so you're outside the heavy downtown traffic . . . But then again you're not close to the action.
Our room was a suite and was very spacious. I belive it was their standard room and came with walk-in closet, 2 person jetted tub, walk-in closet, bathrobes, and a bed to die for.
Drawing attention away from the Strip in Las Vegas, Nev., the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort presents their esteemed guests with a very different experience. Positioned on 54 acres of Nevada's most prized real estate, this Marriott property boasts 11 acres of gardens, a championship 18 hole golf course and 11,000 square feet of heated lagoon pools, creating a visual effect that resembles a desert oasis. Hotel guests can enjoy exploring the Red Rock Canyon (just four miles away), shopping at Boca Park, and visiting many of Las Vegas' most celebrated cultural attractions, just 10 miles away. Praised by leisure professionals, the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort offers a rich and textured menu of recreational activities, dining options and entertainment venues. While gamblers capitalize on slots and poker tables in the 50,000 square foot casino, health conscious guests are indulged and pampered in the Aquae Sulis Spa (waters of the sun), where trained professionals use contemporary treatments of massage therapy and mud baths. Among the eight lounge and dining venues, the hotel's showcase Spiedini Ristorante prepares Milanese and urban Italian cuisine in a sophisticated environment with modern décor. Considered by many to be Las Vegas' premier convention hotel, this member of the Marriott family is characterized by its business friendly features including the 24 hour Promenade Café, meeting and conference rooms and Gustav Mauler's Gourmet Tobaccos & Lounge.
The spacious guestrooms feature arched hallways, sculpted ceilings, sophisticated furniture arrangements and ambient spot lighting. While business professionals are encouraged by amenities like armchairs, work desks and high speed Internet access, leisure travelers find comfort in the marble bathrooms, where jetted tubs and brass raindrop showers yield soothing results.
A property of genuine distinction, the JW Marriott Las Vegas effectively captures the attention of discerning travelers who seek a quieter, self contained Las Vegas hotel and the quality of life that accompanies it.
