June 11 2007: I have stayed at the Marriott Newport several times and have always been pleased with the friendly service and comfortable rooms. The best feature of this hotel is its convenient location, right on the water, only a short walk from Thames street and all the bars, restaurants and shops. Most rooms have a nice view of Goat Island, the harbor, or downtown Newport.
This is a large 300+ room hotel that has a well appointed corporate feel. If you are someone who likes boutique, historic hotels or quaint bed and breakfasts then you definitely do not want to stay here. Lodging in Newport is in short supply during the peak season and oftentimes when the bed and breakfasts are sold out the Marriott has an available room.
The hotel has an indoor pool and a decent gym. They offer wireless high speed internet for a fee. They charge guests for parking at the hotel, but its well worth it because parking anywhere in downtown Newport is a pain in the neck.

Location. The Marriott Newport is located in Newport, R.I., adjacent to the Newport Harbor Walk and across the street from shops and cafes at Brick Market Place. The Newport Yacht Club is one block from the hotel. Touro Synagogue is less than one half mile away. Newport is south of Providence on Aquidneck Island in Narrangansett Bay. Hotel Features. The Marriott Newport serves seafood at Fathoms restaurant. The features sculptures of sea creatures and provides views of Newport Harbor. The lobby includes a microwave oven. Complimentary newspapers are available in the lobby. The hotel includes a business center and 16,000 square feet of meeting space. The largest meeting room is 7,800 square feet and accommodates up to 500 people. The hotel includes a concierge desk. Safe deposit boxes are available at the front desk. The on site fitness center features free weights and cardiovascular equipment. Personal trainers are available. The hotel offers massage treatments. This Newport hotel includes an indoor pool, children's pool and whirlpool. Babysitting services are available.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Marriott Newport are equipped with cable television. Complimentary newspapers are delivered to the guestrooms. Coffeemakers are provided. Room service is available.
