June 17 2008: A large hotel, which I am not a big fan of and prefer smaller boutique like hotels. A friend of mine's travel agent found this hotel for me so this would not of been my first pick. However, this hotel is in a great location - close to Oxford St., Piccadilly and Regent's Park. There was a lot of construction going on when I was here so that was annoying. My room faced the construction site so I was awakened by jackhammers at 7am. It was not cheap and my internet and movies on demand were behaving badly. I informed management a few times about the recurring issues with internet and movies but they were not very helpful and I had to pester them to refund the charges.
24 hour room service which is always a nice perk.Food here is OK but then again I am not a big fan of the food in London. It is one of my fav cities but not for the cuisine. My room was large and bed was very comfortable. Decor was rich red and gold tones - very opulent. I remember the lobby being smokey. The staff was OK. It was actually a pleasant stay and a much nicer hotel than the one I stayed in Knightsbridge the evening before so it was def a step up. I think it is good hotel for business meetings and families. No spa but they have a massage therapist that you can have come to your room. Every time I tried to book the massage, the therapist did not seem very flexible so I decided to not bother with one.

I'll take any excuse to be near the water - even better if it's warm. When I travel, I love to be outside, preferably with a beautiful, luxe hotel room to look forward to returning to. Other loves: epic thunderstorms and a particular 2.5 mile stretch of beach in the Caribbean

August 10 2008: Even though the taxi driver told me, with great authority, that the Melia White House Hotel was where he had dropped many a prostitute for the evening, I decided to keep an open mind. Maybe they are the super classy kind, I thought. Like Julia Roberts at the Beverly Wilshire.
Upon entering the labyrinthine lobby and fighting my way through a haze of cigarette smoke to get to the check-in desk, my optimism started to dim. I became even more glum after finally figuring out the elevator (no buttons!?) and ascending to the third floor. The wide hallway with flocked red velvet wallpaper had a damp sweaty odor. My room, a vision of faux marble and lots of mirrors, also smelled. In fact, the entire experience stank. I do not recommend this hotel, despite the not-bad location near Regent's Park and tourist-mad Oxford Street. You are better off crashing on the floor of someone's flat. At least then you get what you pay for.

Centrally located in London, within walking distance of Regent's Park, Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus, the Meliá White House is a renown luxury hotel which has undergone extensive refurbishment. The property is indeed an ideal base from which to explore the stunning city of London, with the main heritage and entertainment districts all situated in close proximity. This smart hotel boasts an impressive marble lobby with a contemporary black granite reception desk and offers tastefully furnished guest rooms, state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities, four superb restaurants, a stylish lounge bar and a fully equipped fitness centre. The Meliá White House hotel appeals to both business and leisure travellers and takes great pride in the quality service of its staff.
