My number one travel rule is I won't stay anywhere which is not as nice is as home. I'm not a roughin it type of girl. I work a lot, so I like relaxing vacations to easy to get to places. I don't like to stay at large hotels wiht no character. My last trip was to Paris.
December 23 2007: If you want a hotel with great views, a convenient location, an indoor pool 20 floors up with three walls of glass, and a good price on the weekends, this hotel is for you. The hotel is directly across from the UN. While you may think the hotel is out-of-the way, it really isn't. You are only a few blocks from the heart of Midtown. You are guaranteed a room with spectacular view (or views) of the East River. There is an older part of the hotel. The two rooms I stayed in the older part were one-bedroom suites. (One had the bedroom up a flight of steps with the bed facing the East River.) We usually stay in the newer building which is sleek and modern. Eveyone I have recommended the hotel to has loved it.

Expert Tip. This hotel is located directly across the street from the U.N. building. Visitors can purchase U.N. stamps from the Personalized Stamp Shop located in the public vistor area. The stamps bear the purchaser's likeness and are valid when mailed from the U.N. offices.
