June 19 2008: This was my first time at an Omni, so while I don't have anything to compare it to, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The staff was polite and helpful, the bed was comfortable, everything was very clean and neat, and they even had free in-room WiFi. All in all, a successful stay, but pretty unmemorable.
I did have one complaint, however: when I have the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, it means I don't want to be bothered. Housekeeping knocked on my door on three different occassions while the DND sign was out, including once at 7:30 a.m. Not good.
Location.The Omni Austin Downtown is located within blocks of theaters, restaurants, museums and the Texas State Capital in Austin, Texas. The high energy nightspots, eclectic boutiques and live music venues of 6th Street and the Warehouse entertainment district are within four blocks. Families touring college campuses will find the University of Texas, Concordia University and St. Edward's University within three miles. Austin Bergstrom International Airport sits 11 miles away. Hotel Features. Recreational opportunities abound at the Omni Austin Downtown. The rooftop pool and hot tub offer swimming under the Texas stars with a spectacular view of the city. The fitness center features modern cardiovascular and strength training equipment, a dry sauna and locker rooms with showers. Complimentary Get Fit Kits are available at the front desk for guests preferring to work out in the privacy of their guestroom. The hotel's full service spa incorporates integrative techniques like Swedish and deep tissue massages with a variety of body and beauty treatments. Chefs at Ancho's restaurant prepare traditional favorites with a southwestern flair while the Atrium Lounge serves lighter fare with a full service bar.

Expert Tip. Town Lake, formed by damming off a section of the Colorado River, is found less than one mile from the Omni Austin Downtown and offers a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities. In addition to the nearly seven miles of hiking and biking trails, the lake offers kayaking, canoeing and fishing.
