FROM

There's really no personality to this place. Which makes it ideal for business conferences - it's a great shell in which to house your large business conference. No distractions from the topics at hand. Plenty of exhibition space and meeting rooms.
I was here to attend the 2007 PhoCusWright Travel Conference, to unveil our web site to the travel community. The hotel sits right on a golf course, and is about a 30 minute drive from the Orlando airport. As far as I can tell, there is nothing of significance in the surrounding area.
I did appreciate the pool (there are actually three, but only one of them is suitable for laps - the other two were more water-park-like concoctions better for the kiddies) and the adjoining hot tub, and the view out our window was of the golf course. I saw lots of joggers in the morning using a large path that seemed to surround the golf course, and there was a better than decent gym with plenty of new cardio equipment and televisions to act as distraction.
The food served at the event was slightly above average, and i'm assuming this corresponds to what one can expect in the restaurants.
The room was perfectly comfortable, the bed and pillows were good, however the walls did seem a bit thin - I could clearly hear everything happening in the corridor outside.
I wouldn't choose to stay in this hotel voluntarily, but if you're thinking of planning a conference or need a hotel in the neighborhood, this will do. I believe our special rate amounted to about $279 a night.

The hotel was good for the conference as there are a wide variety of decent spaces (inside and outside) for one on one as well as group meetings. I didn't eat in the restaurant, but heard good feedback from other people at the conference.
One big warning: the hotel is a $70/45 min one way cab ride away from the airport (MCO) and there are only a few shops (a Publix grocery store) within walking distance or a short cab ride away. I would recommend scheduling a town car to/from the airport through Mears, as it's only about $5 more expensive and much more comfortable. Mears also offers a shuttle for much less, but it stops at other hotels along the way which means you will spend the day in a van.
