the smallest rooms I have ever exp'd in NYC.
Entertainment, Sightseeing, Tourists
May 8 2008: I stayed here a few years ago and it was an unpleasant stay. It is located near Times Square, which is not very appealing to me. I booked this very last minute for a business trip and it was the least expensive I could find for my dates of travel. I was weary knowing the close proximity to Times Sq/Broadway however I appreciate Philippe Stark hotels so I kept a very open mind.

I am accustomed to the small hotel rooms in NY and in Paris but I really need to share that this room was the size of a shoebox! I barely had room to move and store my luggage. I could not believe how tiny it was...I had a friend (a very tall friend 6'4') stop by to pick me up and he could barely maneuver in the room. Every time I opened my door or moved around the bed, I had to manipulate my luggage or stuff just to get around. The bathroom was just as small and I don't recall there being any shelf or counter space for my toiletries.

Very dark, very small and the bed was a low platform bed which consumed most of the floor space/sq footage, and it was not very comfortable. The interior/decor is nice but that is about it. The bar at one time used to be very hip and it still is enjoyable. The lobby is groovy and the food was OK at the restaurant. I don't remember the staff being so stellar.

When I travel for business, after a long day I really look forward to getting back to my room to decompress and having room service. I do not indulge in much tv at home but when I am traveling I enjoy and take the time to watch tv so it is a real luxury for me but not so when the TV is the size of a rubiks cube - grrrrr! The small TV and the tiny room, I had to go out every night for dinner/entertainment otherwise I would of went bonkers!

I had a non smoking room but smelled smoke from other rooms on my floor and in my room so that was kinda of bothersome but I never complained.

I am sure there are larger rooms but if you do stay here request the largest room available. I had the deluxe room for five nights - I tried to get a larger room but there was nothing available. If you plan on being out most of your stay or planning to hit the broadway shows, I guess stay here if you can score a really cheap rate otherwise go check into the Affinia or Roger Williams midtown for a little larger and more comfortable room.
