August 1 2007: Flawless is the first word that comes to mind at The Planters Inn. From the bellman who offers to arrange a walking tour for you the next day, to a restaurant with remarkable food and wine, this place sets a standard by which everything else should be judged.
Though located next to the outdoor market, the inn is quiet and refined. The rooms are spacious.
Charleston is a fun city, and The Planters Inn is enticing enough to make you want to stay inside all day long.
If you make a mistake and do not stay at the Inn, at least dine at The Peninsula Grill, and have one of the best dining experiences ever.

Location. Planters Inn is within one half mile of the Cruise Line Terminal, Charleston Harbor and Downtown Historic District in Charleston, S.C. The hotel is less than one mile from the South Carolina Aquarium. Citadel is within three miles. The hotel is five miles from Charles Towne Landing State Park/Historic Site, Mount Pleasant and Patriots Point. Hotel Features. Planters Inn features Peninsula Grill, serving breakfasts and dinners of steaks and seafood. The hotel includes a business center, wireless Internet access and flexible meeting space. Wedding services are available. The hotel offers a private garden courtyard.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at Planters Inn feature 19th century four poster beds with triple sheeting and down pillows. Rooms include dark wooden armoires and desks. Sitting areas are provided. Cable television and complimentary high speed Internet access are offered. CD players are provided. Rooms feature 10 foot ceilings and windows overlooking the historic district.
Expert Tip. Charles Towne Landing State Park/Historic Site is located at the site of the first European settlement in the Carolinas in 1670. The park includes a 22 acre Animal Forest with species the settlers encountered including the Black Bear, Elk, Bison, Bobcat, Great Blue Heron and Snowy Egret. The Adventure is a reproduction of the 17th century cargo trading vessel that carried supplies and livestock between New Amsterdam and Barbados. The park's archaeology research has uncovered Native American history dating back 6,000 years. The park offers regular programs exploring the site's agricultural, Native American, African American and women's histories.
