This is the first review written about this hotelJuly 1 2008:

I had a fire in my flat a few weeks ago, and so in addition to sleeping on the sofas of various friends around town, for four nights I stayed at The Grosvenor House. It felt wildly indulgent.

The hotel is very grand, from the curved stone driveway to the spectacular flower arrangements in the marble lobby to the uber-long red and gold carpeted hallways. Our hotel room was very large and comfortable, with a huge bed that had about ten fluffy pillows on it, and given that it was the least expensive on offer, I can imagine that for those willing to shell out a few more pounds, the accommodations border on spectacular.

I didn’t have much interaction with the staff, but I witnessed them in crisis mode when a very loud, very rude American woman melted the cover of her laptop against a coffee table votive candle and then blamed the passing cocktail waiter, the hotel staff, the Queen of England and the law of fire itself for her mistake. Her shouting practically curdled my glass of Bordeaux, but the five managers attending to her remained calm and polite the entire time. Just what one would expect from a hotel with a stately and sterling reputation such as this one.

Really nice stay
Classic, Museums, Sightseeing
July 1 2008: I spent 4 very enjoyable nights at the classy Grosvenor House.  The room was large and comfortable.  The bathroom was also spacious and well-equipped.  The hotel staff were very gracious.  There was also a great lounge with food and drink, comfy sofas and chairs, and a piano player.  The location was perfect for me, directly across the street from Hyde Park and a short walk to lots of sites (and shops if you feel the need to visit Harrods or Harvey Nichols).  Altogether, the visit was exactly what I would expect from a hotel of the Grosvenor's reputation and I would definitely return.
