The architecture of the hotel is modern and set in a grove of palm trees, so the feeling is one of shade and greenery which is quite nice. Our room was overlooking the water. It was adequate, but considering the price we paid we definitely thought the hotel was in need of a renovation. Nothing was falling apart or anything, it just didn't feel that crisp. Our linens were of high quality and the bathroom spacious and attractive. The floors were a terra cotta tile, so the decor was earthy and Spanish.
The pool area was the highlight of the hotel, looking over Biscayne Bay- just beautiful. We ate lunch by the pool most days and the service was great.
Grove Isle has an adequate gym...nothing too fancy, but certainly all you would need. There is also a walking trail around the property. I did not walk it, but saw a lot of who appeared to be neighborhood ladies walking the trail.
The hotel is located in a residential area of Miami- near Coral Gables. So if you want to be near the action, this is not the spot for you. I would view this as a place to escape, not a place to stay to discover Miami or the surrounding areas.
