November 15 2007: Once you get into your room, things calm down. The bed is comfortable; the bathroom is laughably small, but sufficient; tv, web access and minibar are all more than adequate.
The registration experience is tough, though. The lobby, as it were, is very small. The desk staff are too cool. The music is too loud. The dumbwaiters that serve as human elevators reek of hydraulic fluid.
For the money ($189) it was a fair deal if you can survive the trip to your room!

Location. The Shoreham Hotel in New York City, N.Y., is centrally located right off Fifth Avenue, four blocks from Central Park and five blocks from Rockefeller Center. The hotel is one block from the Museum of Modern Art. The Broadway Theater District is two blocks away. Hotel Features. The Shoreham Hotel's Shoreham Restaurant, with its leather and steel banquettes and fluorescent wall panels that change colors, specializes in New American cuisine. The Hot Bar serves cocktails in a modern atmosphere with sage green silk fabrics and translucent glass designed with an underwater theme in mind. The hotel offers 24 hour room service and a never ending flow of coffee and other beverages. High speed Internet access and a business center are available. The hotel houses the Shoreham Gallery, a 2,500 square foot curatorial space with original works. This New York City hotel's 24 hour fitness center features free weights, extra towels, a water cooler, yoga equipment and cardiovascular equipment with personal television screens. Limousine and Town Car service is offered.
Guestrooms. The Shoreham Hotel's minimalist décor of stainless steel, glass, marble and rich woods complemented by light fabric pervades throughout the hotel into the guestrooms. The 174 guestrooms are equipped with CD players, VCRs and cable television. Festooned in earth tones and white, guestrooms feature 300 thread count linens, pillowtop mattresses and plush comforters. The marble and slate bathrooms include bathrobes and Aveda Bath amenities.
Expert Tip. The Shoreham Hotel is one block from boutiques Tiffany & Co. and Harry Winston.
