Nice hotel in great location.
Downtown, Classic, Lively
March 25 2008: I stayed at The Sutton Place Hotel in mid-March. The hotel is very nice and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel has two sections -- one is all suites and tends to be more long-term stays; the other is mostly standard king/double queen rooms and suites. I stayed in a standard king room. There wasn't anything exceptional about the room itself, although the bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was nice, with good shower and great amentities.

The hotel bar tends to be pretty lively and is a popular spot. There's also an amazing desert buffet available each night.

The Sutton Place is centrally located in Vancouver and close to good shopping on Robson. It is a short drive from both Granville Island and Yaletown, both of which are great spots to visit for shopping, restaurants, etc. The concierge staff at the hotel is fantastic for providing directions, suggestions and arrangements.

One other note: if you are into celebrity spotting, the Sutton Place is a great place to stay. Evidently the suite side is popular with actors filming in Vancouver. We saw a few celebs while we were there and heard of even more that were staying there.

Date of stay: March 2008
Purpose of stay: Business

I feel bamboozled
Not Hip, Not Rustic, Not Scenic, Not Lively
This is the first review written about this hotelJuly 22 2007: My girlfriend and I visited Vancover in June of 07 and stayed at Sutton Place Hotel.  The location was great, and we had a great time in Vancouver...but after seeing its 5 star rating and expecting a lavish hotel with royal treatment, we were both severely letdown.  The staff was about average, they weren't incompetent but they also didn't have the same feel as what you come to expect from a true 5 star hotel.  We hung out at the hotel bar one night and it was just OK.  Everything about this place screams "just OK".  Please take my advice and try something else if you really want the 5 star experience.  But definitely visit Vancouver, it's a great city!
