July 13 2007: This hotel is at a great location. It's across the street from Washington Square Park in the village. The rooms have everything you would expect in a hotel. I haven't tried room service so I can't comment on that.
However, I did talk to the staff from time to time either just to chat or to ask for advice and directions. They are very friendly and answer with great enthusiasm. Breakfast in the morning is delicious whether it's the one you pay for or the free one included with the room.
On the bad side, the elevator is very very small and hot, and there's only one for over 10 floors.
The staff is really what makes this hotel stand out.

The Washington Square is a lavish hotel located at the heart of the Greenwich Village in Downtown Manhattan, one of the multi-cultural neighbourhoods of New York City. Offering elegantly-appointed and fully refurbished accommodations, the property also features an extensive array of facilities that will make for a plesant and comfortable stay. The lobby is entirely decorated in the typical Parisian style of the 1930's and represents an elegant retreat where modern conveniences such as a complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access, mingle with the feeling of times past. The lobby bar as well as the acclaimed North Square Lounge Bar and Restaurant will satisfy even the most demanding guests, while a fitness room with massage and facial treatments is the ideal choice after a long, tiring day. The helpful and kind multilingual reception staff is also ready to keep you updated on any special event the city has to offer, such as the Chocolate Show.
