Convention Hotel
Downtown, Modern, Museums, Sightseeing, Business People
This is the first review written about this hotelOctober 20 2007: This seems a lot like a "convention hotel". People stay here when in DC on business.

The hotel was recently aquired by Starwood and got a decent renovation, but it feels a bit like it used to be a budget hotel (low popcorn ceilings).

It's well located in DC, close to the metro, some good restaurants, a whole foods.

The rooms are faily tiny but well apointed. It's not terribly expensive but nothing was extraordinary at all.

The Atrium......
Downtown, Luxurious, Modern, Stylish, Museums, Nightlife, Business People, Events & Meetings, Singles, Tourists
April 13 2008: .....is neato. Far cooler than the generic boxed atrium of, say, an Embassy Suites, the unique cylindrical atrium at the Westin DC is something to raise an eyebrow at.  If you get a  room on a inner wall, you'll see what I mean.  The elevator shaft is a concentric structure within the atrium, cantilevered to which, are the suites/penthouses(?), which seem to hover out over the center of the atrium.   Looks like something from Dubai -- very neato.

Unfortunately I did NOT get to stay in one of these units, but was very satisfied with my single King room.  Room was super functional : business-class desk, good hookups (power & internet), and an aeron chair to boot.   If you needed to clock off a few hours of work in your hotel room, I can envision much more unpleasant scenarios.  The bed was super-comfortable, par for the course on all the higher end brands in the Starwood chain.  I was very happy with the 42'' LG plasma TV -- a boon indeed, considering it was March Madness month.

As far as the location of the Hotel, it was situated right off of Logan Circle, so you have great access to downtown for work, but also super accessible to the U Street corridor for fun.  Definitely a good choice for the younger worker crowd in town for a biz trip.

Didn't grab any photos, but I'll probably stay there again soon, so I'll post them next time...

cheers.
