July 13 2007: I had the pleasure to stay at the Nelligan for 2 stays (weekends) and I must say it's a very nice hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. The rooms are a mix of modern furniture in an old building where they kept the brick walls to give it a warm feeling. Breakfast is included (very good) and drinks between 5 to 7pm.

Locally owned and operated, Nelligan boutique hotel created from two Old Montréal buildings lies within a block of the Old Port and Notre Dame Basilica. Trimmed in dark wood and divided into three spaces, the lobby establishes the contemporary, informal ambience that attracts discriminating business and leisure travelers here, with both jeans and business attire on view and dressed up couples dining from evening to late night. The Nelligan hotel provides a complimentary Continental breakfast every morning and a complimentary wine and cheese reception every afternoon. Complimentary shuttles operate to downtown attractions daily from morning to night. The Verses Restaurant offers Contemporary French cuisine; it's open for breakfast and dinner daily, and lunch Monday to Friday. Large windows open onto the street in warm weather. Lunch choices include salmon tartare, grilled shrimp cocktail, lobster salad, togarashi rubbed tuna salad, pasta special, seared calf's liver with mushroom ragoût, Angus filet mignon with truffled mashed potatoes, grilled salmon. Dinner choices include lobster tian, Angus beef tartare, Angus rib steak with Kenyan string beans, duck breast with foie gras and blueberry Minaki reduction, shellfish risotto, and honey cider glazed Guinea fowl with herb polenta. A fully equipped conference room is available to ensure meetings or functions are a success. To cater to the needs of the business traveler the Nelligan hotel has a business center. After a long day of sightseeing or meetings, guests can treat themselves to a pampering massage or work out in the fitness facility. The elegant guest rooms are furnished with Platform beds with wood and wrought iron headboards, dressed with triple sheeting, five down pillows per bed, white down comforters, and chocolate colored chenille throws. Frette Italian terry cloth bathrobes and slippers supply lounging comfort. Other thoughtful room amenities include, cable TVs, CD players, work desks, hair dryers, in room safes, Internet access, jetted baths, massages, and premium TV channels.
