Great location and great renovation
Downtown, Boutique, Hip, Modern, Lively, Stylish
This is the first review written about this hotelNovember 24 2007: Le Meridien is on Rambla, so a great location if you want to go out and enjoy the vibrant downtown of Barcelona. Near many of the major attractions as well. The rooms which have been renovated are really great, though a little small. Rooms with a Rambla view are at a premium, but remember that Rambla is loud all night, so if you want to get some rest, you might want to avoid these. Restaurant is ok, nothing memorable though. The customer service is good- the concierge had good restaurant recommendations, and was quite helpful. Overall a good value for money, and I would certainly stay here again if in Barcelona.

In the heart of La Rambla
Downtown, Lively, Stylish, Shopping, Sightseeing, Tourists
November 26 2007: I stayed here for a week while attending a conference and brought the family.  The hotel is in the midst of a renovation right now and the lobby is reconfigured while most of it is being renovated.  Rooms are in the middle of renos so make sure you request a renovated room away from the construction.

We did get a renovated room which was quite stylish and comfortable.  Flat panel TV hung on the wall, frosted glass walls for the bathroom, new beds, etc.  Though it felt a little cramped with our 16 month old, it was still workable with the crib in there.

The staff were friendly and helped with all our needs including getting me good seats for a Barcelona football game.

The hotel itself is located in the lively La Rambla.  This is a pedestrian walk that goes from the waterfront up to the Plaza Catalunya and there is a mix of tapas style restaurants, buskers and mimes doing their acts and some shopping.  Be warned that they are serving tourists and you are getting overcharged.  I highly suggest you get lost in the many side-streets with much better and cheaper food and shopping.
