November 14 2007: I stayed in this hotel during a shoe convention, and I don't mean LVMH. I was given the handicapped room, which is fine but the shower consisted of a curtain suspended from the ceiling which ended two feet above the floor. There was no tub or basin, but a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor. (My ankles were drafty). I had an inner-courtyard-facing room with not only a view of HVACs but the drone of them all night long. It felt like I was inside of a nuclear cooling tower. The location of the Westin is good, although The Hard Rock Cafe is on the same street (bad sign). Clearly I got a bum room, but basically the whole hotel seemed mediocre.

The Westin is an elegant, sumptuously furnished Grand Dame opposite the Neptuno Fountain and just across from the Prado. It feels slightly like "Disney does Old World" but it does what it does very well.
