July 7 2008: I stayed at the Thistle Royal Horseguard on a recent business trip to London. I was pleasantly surprised. I needed something close to the Waterloo Rail Station and this hotel worked out quite well. There is a walking bridge from one side to the other of the River Thames that dumps you a short distance from the Waterloo Rail Station. The underground is also right across the street from the hotel.
My room was recently renovated and I'm not sure how much of the hotel is complete. So if you go I would definitely ask for a recently renovated room. The size is quite large and a very nice bathroom. Walk in shower, tub with a in wall TV, heated floors and towel racks. The desk and work space is great. Really roomy with UK, Europe and US electrical plug ins. The hotel is wireless. There is even a place for your iPod and the room is equipped with speakers so your music and the TV play through these speakers. Quite frankly for the rate I think this is a hidden gem. I'll be going back here on my next visit.
