Don't stay here in 2008

Events & Meetings, Not Quiet

January 22 2008: I stayed here in January '08 for the EyeforTravel Distribution Conference, which was in the same hotel.

The experience was mediocre at best. The hotel is undergoing construction for 2008 and as such there was very loud banging going on in the ground floor area the entire day. That alone would have me suggest that you look elsewhere in London.

I did miss a few things: no heat lamp or hair dryer in the bathroom, Internet was NOT FREE, but instead an exhorbitant 15 pounds per day.

The gym was adequate, with free weights, treadmills, and bicycles, but not great.

The concierge did loan me an umbrella to brave the London drizzle, and I found the staff friendly and helpful.

The Swiss Cottage tube stop is a quick 1 minute away.

Location. The Marriott London Regents Park hotel in London, England, is located in the exclusive area north of Regent's Park. It is a few hundred metres from the park, and within a mile from the Freud Museum, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and London Planetarium. Swiss Cottage Tube station is 250 metres away, and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is approximately 18 miles away.
Hotel Features. The lobby in the seven storey Marriott London Regents Park features a chandelier and floral centrepiece. The 24 hour concierge desk offers safe deposit boxes and currency exchange.

The Brasserie Centrale serves modern Mediterranean dishes and has an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining. Floor to ceiling windows flood the colourful restaurant with light. Guests can relax with a cocktail on the comfortable chairs in Chats Bar.

The hotel offers a business centre, meeting rooms and an executive business lounge. Secretarial services and audiovisual equipment are available.

There is a 15 metre indoor pool with loungers on site. The hotel also has a gym with cardiovascular equipment, sauna and steam room.

Guestrooms. The Marriott London Regents Park's 304 air conditioned guestrooms are decorated in warm tones. All feature wireless Internet access (surcharge), cable television, trouser presses and minibars. Bathrooms include bath/shower combinations and complimentary toiletries.

Expert Tip. Close to the hotel, London's Regent's Park features a lake with heronry and boating area. It is also home to London Zoo and has a number of sports pitches.
