FROM

While the hotel is large, the rooms sprawl though a number of buildings, giving it a deceptively B&B feel. Our room was cozy and lovely. The bathroom was large and had full-size Molton Brown products--a nice perk.
Burford is a picturesque town and a great base from which to begin one's ramblings through the Cotswold's.

The Bay Tree Hotel is a comfortable inn on a quiet lane just a block from the shops and pubs. The hotel is housed in a complex of adjacent stone buildings with a restaurant and a large garden out back. Our room was comfortable and included a surprisingly spacious bathroom with what I understand are very nice personal care products (Molton Brown).
I would have given this hotel a 4th star except that the hot water ran out in the middle of my shower on Saturday night. While I suspect that this may be a typical experience at inns in the English countryside, my heart has not yet thawed, especially considering the cost of lodging. Also, the service - or rather the attitude - at the reception desk varied from pleasant to brusque.
I would be happy staying at the Bay Tree again, but I would also like to check out other hotels in the Cotswolds.
