November 13 2007: This budget hotel is one of the best deals in the world! The hotel was originally a Lord's summer retreat during the British Raj. It has the charm and character of a 19th century house (shaped doorways, painted details), and is well located near the center of Jaipur.
The rooms are very simple, though comfortable. Keep in mind that this is a paradise for BACKPACKERS - meaning the power may go out, the shower may not always have hot water, a ghecko might climb into your room!
The breakfast terrace is lovely and the food pretty good (I think the breakfast menu included "eggs any shape"!). There is a pretty garden. Rickshaws are always available from the hotel. All this for somewhere around $20 a night! (Check their website for rates).
