August 17 2007: We stayed the weekend at the Hotel Pierre. Its central location added to the experience as all the sights and all the shopping districts were actually at the doorstep. Our room was facing a light shaft and not out towards the street. I guess someone always has to stay in one of these rooms. The view was therefore disappointing, but the room was really quiet.
The bathroom was very nice (and clean) and the room was as can be hoped for: non-capeted floors, TV, big, relatively comfortable bed and enough furniture to get by. In reality, for such a short stay it did not really need to be as large as it was but at least we did not feel claustraphobic. A high ceiling helps.
Breakfast was unexiting but no complaints.
Summed up: the hotel is OK but not great for the price, but with the location you can't go wrong for a weekend trip to Florence.
