June 15 2007: On a 10 day trip to Italy my girlfriend and i were looking forward to staying at Hotel Olimpico the most, as we were primarily sight seeing from hostels and a chance to relax on the beach and take in a few nearby sights sounded amazing. Unfortunately hotel olimpico is neither near the beach, or any sight - or anything else for that matter, unless a 15 minute drive to the nearest train station can be considered close. Any day time excursions must end by 8pm which is the time of the last bus otherwise a 25-30 euro taxi ride is the penalty. really this hotel could be okay for some people but i rated it so low because the website is entirely misleading. Even to get to a nice beach is a half day trek and as such the days we spent here, rather than being relaxing, were a nightmare of trains, buses and schedules.

Acqua Theme Park is two kilometres from the hotel and Pompeii is 35 kilometres away. A private beach is 50 metres from the hotel with guests entitled to one lounger, one deckchair and one parasol per room. The area surrounding the outdoor swimming pool is furnished with sun loungers and there is shade from the palm trees. There is a poolside bar and an ornate fountain is set amid the tended hotel gardens. The air conditioned public areas have complimentary wireless Internet access and a complimentary buffet breakfast is served each morning.
Hotel Olimpico houses Restaurant Olimpico, serving Italian dishes and regional specialities in a contemporary setting with picture windows.
The hotel is equipped with its own tennis and volleyball courts, and there is also a table tennis table and a bowling area. A grassy area next to the pool contains the children's playground with swings, seesaw and a slide. Golfers can head to the golf course less than one kilometre away where clubs and equipment (not shoes) are available for hire.
Guestrooms. The 44 guestrooms over three floors have light decor, modern furnishings and balconies. All are equipped with satellite television, complimentary wireless Internet, direct dial phones, refrigerators and hair dryers.
Expert Tip. Pompeii, the city suddenly devastated by volcanic eruption, offers an amazingly well preserved treasure trove of Roman remains.
