I like this hotel because it’s open and breezy, reasonably priced, and centrally located. It’s a fair sized property of nearly 300 rooms located just north of Georgetown, right at the start of the southern end of famous Seven-Mile Beach.
The rooms are quite comfortable with a nice island type décor. I especially like how the resort is spread out across lovely landscaped grounds. There are 3 pools with lots of space to lounge, plus you can walk right on out to the beach.
In fact, starting here, I’ve walked the entire length of seven mile beach and back. I’ve actually done it several times, not as a goal in itself, but just to relax and to stop at some of the less crowded parts for a swim.
That’s one thing about Grand Cayman, it seems to be getting more crowded every year, especially between Georgetown and West End on the west side of the island along Seven-Mile Beach. I wouldn’t say it’s overcrowded, but if you want peace and quiet, go to the east end.
However, if you like having things to do, this is the place. There’s tons of shopping and places to eat all within walking distance, and Georgetown is only a few minutes walk – about a mile away.
At the hotel itself, I enjoyed eating at Hooks restaurant which always served great food, but one of my favorite things was to get a burger out on the terrace for a late lunch. This was usually after diving all morning so I can’t say it was the burger itself or the fact I was famished, but they always tasted great – especially with a couple cold drinks.
They also have a weekly rum party with a steel band playing. Very enjoyable – great drinks! Again, maybe it was the drinks, but we always had a good time.
