Barcelo Maya Palace All Inclusive

We were happy to find a very modern, clean and elegant lobby and resort complex. Being late we headed to the room and had room service for us and the kids. The room service was flat, which did not bode well for the food the rest of the stay.  When we arrived at the breakfast buffet we were grealy surprised by the great atmosphere, selection and quality of the food, all was good. This held true for the lunch and dinner buffets, really the best part of the selection available for dining.

They do have a multitude of restaurants  as the Palace is part of a resort complex that has a total of 5 Barcelo hotels. The palace is the luxury property of the 5. Therefore we dined at the Palace's Carribean, Brasilian and French restaurants. Each was a bit flat and all shared the same dessert menu (where was the variety!?). We decided the dinner buffet was the best way to go.

We spent a large part of our time at the pools of course, with emphasis on the children's pool with lots of water slides. The kides loved it, we loved it and was a great way to meet other families at the resort. The main pool was also great with an in-pool bar and lots of pool space.

We had one negative experience here, which was quite dissappointing. We had used the room safe but accidentally left out a small coin purse in a bag with some USD in it, and it was swiftly gone. Based on circumstances, our best guess is that it was the hotel housekeeping staff and security was prompt in responding and logging the incident. Really, I would expect a high-end place like this to take more care of their staffing.  So, always use your roomsafe.

All in all it was a great holiday, we would recommend this place and would return ourselves.
