Stay in a canal house of a Five Star

March 19 2008: In a square between two canals a son of The Pulitzer bought various original 17nd century and later built canal houses over a long time span. So you can drive around the Hotel over the narrow streets along the two canals.That is the strange thing with this Starwood Hotel: Although it is a real big chain Starwood with the usual luxury and one of few real congiergeries (one of the few Dutch members of Les Cle's D'Or), it doesn't feel like it. Because all the houses create a maze of nooks and crannies. Sometimes you get lost, because there is no central stair. Clusters of houses share stairs. However it is very cosy.
I stayed there with a group of friends and we had a private canal trip with the hotel's very classic and stylish canal boat. A must for the ones who can afford it.
Also we had an excellent private diner in the former Apothecary.
Recommended for groups.

November 29 2007: The Pulitzer is a hotel that was originally a groups of canal houses. The rooms were large (a novelty in Europe) and the service was very good. The location was also great for sight seeing as it is about a block from a tram stop. If you stay here I recomend the canal tour, it was very informative and the boat was just the right size for a small tour group (8 people). This hotel is very unique and that adds to the charm. It is a little pricey but worth the extra cost. The restaurant was also very good, and the breakfast buffet was great as well.
