I come from a family of hoteliers in Italy, and travel and hospitality have always been my passion. Reading travel books, browsing low fares, planning dream vacations: my spare time activities have turned into a full-time job!
October 15 2007: The Bora Bora Lagoon was a dream! We stayed there for our honeymoon and we truly liked it. Service was amazing (we were shown 4 rooms to make up our mind!), and we loved the location (opposite Vaitape, 5 minutes on the hotel's complimentary speedboat). We found the structure of the hotel a bit dated, but they were undergoing massive renovation work. We stayed in a beach bungalow with a private pool, but I would recommend staying overwater everywhere in French Polynesia- bugs are feisty! The restaurant was good, if slightly overpriced. Breakfast was a good deal! Private sailing boats, water sport equipment, and the largest pool in French Polynesia capped our wonderful experience there!

Location. The Bora Bora Lagoon Resort is located on the island of Motu Toopua in Bora Bora, French Polynesia. The property is located in Bora Bora Lagoon and offers uninterrupted views of Mount Otemanu. The Panorama, a lookout point on the island, is one kilometer away. The city of Vaitape, Bora Bora's main town, is five kilometers from the hotel. Hotel Features. The Bora Bora Lagoon Resort features the Maru Spa, a treehouse spa facility built into two Banyan trees. Tahitian based treatments using traditional South Pacific herbs and remedies are incorporated into the spa services. Fitness options include exercise equipment, two floodlit tennis courts and a 160 foot, outdoor infinity pool. Complimentary activities include snorkeling, windsurfing, outrigger canoeing and kayaking. Scuba diving, deep sea fishing, shark feeding excursions and other recreational sports can be arranged for a fee. Watch sunsets from Otemanu Restaurant and Hiro Lounge (open during dinner hours only), both of which offer 270 degree panoramic views of Mount Otemanu and Bora Bora Lagoon. Rotopa Bar serves beverages and light snacks poolside. Café Fare offers lunch and dinner options in a casual atmosphere. Canoe Breakfasts feature tropical fruits, pastries and juices delivered to over water bungalows via Tahitian style canoes. Guestrooms. The resort offers over water and garden bungalows, all with thatched roofs made from pandanus leaves. Over water bungalows feature illuminated, glass top coffee tables for private marine viewing. Glass tops retract to allow guests to feed fish. Teak walkways connect over water bungalows to the resort and beaches. Garden bungalows are highlighted by private sundecks and beachfront access. All units include in room safes, cable television and DVD players. Bathrooms offer double basin vanities, separate showers and free standing bathtubs. Polished Yucca wood floors, Kaori wood walls and Tahitian décor complete the ensemble.
Expert Tip. For a special treat, request a "motu picnic." The resort will transport you to a deserted motu (a garden area with beach). While you snorkel and enjoy the solitude, the hotel staff will arrange a barbeque lunch complete with table, chairs, shade umbrella, linens, china and silver. Everything is set up in two feet of water, giving this picnic a unique twist.
