We were greeted by the owner upon arrival (there are only four rooms, in a separate building to the main house), who showed us to our room, and then practically insisted that we go swimming (which we didn't mind in the slightest!). The only issue with this suggestion was that we lacked bathing costumes, however he was kind enough to lend us a (very stylish) pair which he had kicking around. The pool is just perfect, and the garden and pool afford a fantastic view of Quinta de Regaleira, Pena and the Castello dos Mouros. 

The room was comfortable, with a decent shower, and a balcony.

There's also an internet hut in the garden (free access). 

The only potential drawback for some visitors is that Casa do Valle is 400m from the Palácio Nacional, however down a fairly steep hill - not good if you're not fit, but we found the walk rather invigorating in the morning (plus it's an easy enough stroll down after an evening enjoying Sintra).

Would definitely stay there again!
