July 27 2007: I'll admit right now that while I found Alaska to be beautiful, I hated living there. This hotel made relocating there a nightmare. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are well kept and provide a fairly decent amount of amenities. There's even a heated indoor pool, a large exercise room and a fairly large guest laundry area. The staff however leaves much to be desired. While some members did go out of their way to help when needed, others not only wouldn't help they refused to do so. One of the housekeepers, when hearing what an employee had said to me, confided that she'd seen them treat people much worse than they did me. If you're only staying for a few nights, I'd say it's a good place to stay. It's close to some restaurants and a Wal-Mart, but tourist sites are miles from the area and you'll need to rent a car or rely on taxis & buses to get around... Not always a great thing when you're talking about Alaska in the winter.
