June 13 2007: Hotels in Phoenix often offer crazy deals during low season, so between that and the renovation currently going on at the Camelback Inn, we got a fantastic deal.
The good:
The resort is huge and spread out. It was very quiet.
The landscaping is immaculate and the whole place exudes Southwestern charm.
The bed was extremely comfortable and our room was spacious
The breakfast buffet was awesome. We got a bed & breakfast deal for only $10 over their regular rate and they charge $20/person at the restaurant. Great deal! Also, the staff at the restaurant was really nice.
The pool was great!
The bad:
The bathrooms are old and unrenovated and the lighting is terrible.
The front desk staff was not very friendly or helpful.
We only stayed here for a weekend but we would love to come back and stay longer. Renovations will continue until mid-2008, but they were totally unintrusive and we never heard any construction noise.

Location. The Camelback Inn, a JW Marriott Resort & Spa occupies a scenic setting between the Camelback and Mummy mountains in Scottsdale, Ariz. This casita style resort is surrounded by the residential community of Paradise Valley. Hotel Features. The 125 acre resort completed a $60 million renovation in 2004. The property displays masterful American Indian artworks, sculptures, textiles and pottery. Hoppin' Jack's restaurant offers spectacular views of Camelback Mountain. Sprouts Restaurant prepares healthy cuisine in a tranquil spa setting. The Golf Grill is known locally for its Sunday Brunch. A total of 40,000 square feet of function space includes three ballrooms. Golf architect Arthur Hills designed the resort's championship Padre Course, while Jack Snyder drew plans for the traditional American links style Indian Bend Course. Recreational amenities include basketball, pitch n' putt golf and two outdoor pools. The Tennis Pavilion features three all weather lit courts, provides a guest matching service, and offers clinics and equipment rentals. The Spa at Camelback contains a lap pool, cactus garden sun terraces, rental cabanas, indoor and outdoor spa tubs, and a fitness center. The spa is outfitted with a mountain bike simulator, an exercise studio, and men's and women's relaxation lounges. Spa treatments include Southwestern massages and guided meditations. Hopalong College hosts seasonal educational and recreational programs for children ages 5 to 12.
Guestrooms. This resort offers 453 one and two story smoke free casitas and suites. Furnished patios or balconies afford views of the mountains or the landscaped desert grounds. Décor includes Southwestern artworks, cream colored stucco walls and beamed ceilings. Beds feature pillowtop mattresses, 300 thread count sheets and lightweight down comforters. Bathrooms are stocked with Nirvae Botanicals and contain two vanity sinks, shower/tub combinations, curved shower rods, bathrobes and slippers. Rooms feature minibars, refrigerators and coffeemakers. High speed Internet access is available for a fee.
Expert Tip. This property offers enhanced health inspired programs including Dr. Kenneth Cooper's Personalized Aerobic Lifestyle System (PALS). Professional PALS staff members offer body composition analyses, personalized fitness regimens and nutrition counseling.
