June 26 2008: I love love love this hotel.  First class all the way.  Expensive but  worth it.  It's the nicest spa I've ever been to--loads of amenities, service and ambience.  The pool is beautiful and the servers are very attentive--bringing pitchers of ice water with lemon or anything you desire by putting your flag up by your lounge chair. The standard room is huge--with a huge and beautiful bathroom as well.  Service was extraordinary.  Really great on site restaurants.  Would love to return!

December 10 2007: The Phoenician is a bit of a tired property on a very nice piece of real estate. It is extremely well maintained; it's just obvious the place was built in the 80s. It reminds me of the older Disney resort properties...big clunky concrete structures.

This resort was NOT huge, which I was very happy about since most conferences seem to be held in mega-resorts where walk-time from room to meeting is noticeable.

The grounds are fabulous, the rooms are oversized (benefit of 80s engineering), the pools are of good size and with ample deck space. And the restaurant options are many, with varying options on price point and cuisine.

The economy is strong, and so this resort is not shy about its rates on rooms, food, parking, etc.

There is an adjacent upscale boutique "hotel within the hotel" that is likely worth checking out as well.

This is the first review written about this hotelAugust 15 2007: This gorgeous hotel made the hot Arizona desert seem a lot more humane. If you are ready to put down the cash, you can sit back and relax in a beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of the country! Scottsdale is far away enough from the rest of the world that it is easy to sit back and relax but not hard to move and shake! The golf course was absolutely beautiful! The contrast between it and the desert was really weird. The spa was like a tiny dip into heaven. The rooms are large, spacious and very prettily decorated. Like in Boca Raton, the staff was not in your face but eager to help when the time came.

The dining at the hotel was absolutely incredible! I have a little hang up about eating strange foods but that was mostly cured at The Phoenician!
