I love to travel, preferably without a backpack. A perfect day of travel includes museums, exploring new places on foot and ending the day with a nice place to stay.
July 18 2007: The La Playa is called the Grande Dame of hotels in Carmel, and for good reason. This spanish style hotel is right in the heart of Carmel by the Sea. Blocks from the beach, you couldn't be in a more central location.
The rooms are fine, nothing out of this world or unusual very comfortable. We stayed in the main building, but there are cottages which may be more attrative for a couple looking for a romantic escape.
The gardens are beautifully kept which makes this beautiful resort even more beautiful. We enjoyed having an evening glass of wine in the gardens.
Carmel is a great walking town and you couldn't pick a better location or hotel for a perfect hotel experience.
