great location & nice rooms

April 25 2008: I have stayed here many times and this was the hotel choice I chose for my out of town wedding guests a few years ago. Reasonable rates. Great location by the Santa Monica Pier, The Promenade, shopping nearby on Main Street and Montana Avenue. Everyone really enjoyed their stay here. My parents really enjoyed it here and now every time they visit LA, they stay here.

The staff and mgmt are wonderful. I originally booked a jr suite for me and when I checked in they upgraded me to an ocean view deluxe suite that has a HUGE patio. I enjoyed my coffee and newspaper every a.m on the patio.

I am not a fan of the decor of the rooms...kinda of boring to me however the marble bathrooms are great. The room was very clean. The beds are super comfy and they use frette linens. TV's are on the smaller side (I think I have been spoiled at other hotels)

I was not impressed with the spa but it was nice. I had great treatments but it does not have the usual amenities like most spas ( sauna, steam room, a quiet room, etc )

Pool was nice and has a very nice lobby. Food was good and there are nice places outside to dine or have drinks. Room service was fast. There is a decent fitness center and they do charge for wifi.

CONS - Valet is steep here and your only option when staying here. No parking garage and you can not park overnight on the street. There is meter street parking for friends who want to visit you.

There are better hotels close by that are actually on the beach like the Loews, Shutters and Casa Del Mar but for the  lower rates, friendly staff and close proximity to the beach...It's a nice, clean hotel and close to many great restaurants and shopping. I rec it for business, families and couples.

June 5 2008: very nice hotel. clean, comfortable and offers most amenities which are offered in the more upscale hotels.  room was a nice size--spa was small but nice--and the location couldn't be beat. it's walking distance to the beach and boardwalk.  nice staff.  would recommend it.

May 12 2008: nice hotel close to santa monica beach. very clean and bright but we had a view of other buildings. stayed here for the weekend for my best friend's wedding weekend. she had a large suite with a ocean view and large patio so this is the way to go here if you stay here. staff treated all of us great and were helpful.everyone had a blast. great pool and awesome burgers. very close to many shops and the santa monica pier but parking is minimal. there is spa and it is nice, small but nice. i live in venice beach so i don't see myself going back here but i would definitely recommend it. nice hotel for kids, tourists, everyone.

June 5 2008: I spent weekend here for a good friend's wedding. She booked a bunch of rooms for us so the rate seemed reasonable. My first time in Santa Monica and it was awesome. It is a nice hotel conveniently located to stores and  beach pier. CLean and nice rooms. There was a large group of us and everyone was happy with the rooms and service. You can take a bike and ride the bike path along the beach. The only con is the bed. I am almost 6'5 so the king bed was a bit short for me but I run into this issue often. I noticed all of our other friends have done reviews on their stay and were just as pleased.  A good gym. I will definitely stay here again when I visit LA in the fall. Its a nice hotel in a great location.
