This is the first review written about this hotelJuly 23 2007: Parc 55 is a good hotel if you don't want to pay a fortune and don't need the luxury or service of a more boutique hotel. It's also not a chain, so there are none of those annoying corporate rules that you get with the Hilton/Marriott types (MUST be out at 12pm no matter what, etc), and it's not expensive for basically the same type of hotel. So for a lot cheaper, you can get a basic room in a fantastic location.

Obviously we aren't the only ones thinking this, as everytime we stay there, there's at least one airline checking in or out.

Another thing that might matter to some of you - they have smoking rooms.

Anyway, if you need a place to crash in the city and don't want to spend a fortune (or navigate the never ending hallways of a behemoth chain across the street), the Parc 55 is a great hotel. I wouldn't feel comfortable spending over $125 a night for it, though.

Bed Score: 3 stars - nothing remarkable. Bed at home just as, if not more comfortable.

Geek Score: 3 stars - again, nothing remarkable. I think it's your standard $12.95 wi-fi.

Parc 55 - pleasantly surprising hotel

August 20 2007: We decided to extend our stay in San Francisco another night but unfortunately our existing hotel was sold out.  We browsed the web for another hotel and found the pricing and location of Parc 55 to be acceptable.  Once we arrived we found the front desk staff was very helpful and friendly.  When we arrived in our room we found it to be clean, comfortable, updated, smelled nice, and had great views.   The location was convenient because it is only 2 - 3 blocks from Union Square and across the street from Market Street shopping and entertainment.  Upon reflection we certainly enjoyed our stay at Parc 55 and saved over $100 per night.  I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.
