I love the latin culture & my favorite countries are Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico. Fortunate to have a daughter who loves to travel with me. I seek salsa festivals and culinary experiences abroad otherwise spas and relaxation with my daughter & fun trips with my grandkids.
May 7 2008: I visit Santa Monica as much as I can and when I do, I always stay at my daughter's. She has a gorgeous home a mile from the Santa Monica beaches so I don't ever really need to look into accommodations when I travel to Santa Monica. But this time I decided to treat myself for an evening in a luxury hotel. It is expensive but it is worth it. I have heard so many wonderful things about Shutters and I have been wanting to stay here for a very long time. I was able to book a last minute room for one night. I had an ocean view room and it was wonderful.
The rooms are beautiful, bright, airy and very clean. The staff is lovely. The bathrooms have a separate tub and shower, which I always enjoy. The hotel has two great restaurants and one serves a great brunch on Sundays. I enjoyed the restaurant downstairs the best. The hotel is situated on the beach and close to the Santa Monica Pier and other shops.
I indulged in a few treatments at the spa and they were wonderful. This is a beautiful hotel and is great for honeymooners, kids and anyone in the need for some rest and solitude. I love staying at my daughter's but when I want some quiet beach time and really want to be pampered, this will always be my first choice.
