This is the first review written about this hotelAugust 14 2007: The Omni Shoreham is a well known, older hotel.  The main lobby is enormous and when you step into the hotel you feel like you are in another era.  The details are ornate and gilded, but the overall feeling of the hotel is one of a huge hotel or conference center.

My room was on the 12 floor and was fairly large in size, but a bit 'tired' and need of a update.  I found the layout of the hotel rather confusing, as there are several old rickety elevator banks and it was never clear which one I needed.

I found the staff to be mediocre, definitely not one would expect from a luxury hotel, which is what the Shoreham calls itself.  In addition they charge for the hotel gym which is just wrong.

The location is within walking distance to Adams Morgan but not much else.  The parking was conveniently located right at the hotel.

If you are looking for a luxurious hotel with modern amenities, this is not the place for you.  However, if you like an older feel, you might like it.  Overall, this hotel is ok, nothing terribly special, but certainly adequate for a place to stay in DC.  Next time, I would prefer a hotel that was more centrally located and would allow me to walk to other points of interest in DC.
