June 8 2007: I was pleasantly surprised by the Melrose Hotel. It is right on Penn. Avenue, just about two blocks from the heart of Georgtown. The ambiance was adequate and the price was reasonable. There is a cozy bar right off the lobby which was rather charming for a hotel bar. We were able to walk to restaurants and shopping.

February 18 2008: Booked the hotel online and when I got there to check in they had overbooked and filled. They apologized, transfered my reservation to another property they managed and i was given the nights stay for free, and they paid for my transportation there.
I didn't see the rooms, but the lobby looked nice :)
