The Contemporary Hotel... NOT the Regal Sun Resort - A convenient resort for both Business and Leisure
Hip, Modern, Lively, Stylish
This is the first review written about this hotelMay 27 2008: In January 2008 I stayed at The Contemporary Resort for an annual conference that specializes in Travel & Hospitality for people with disabilities.  Although I had a package room rate for the conference; their room rates were quite reasonable for their location and amenities.

The Contemporary Resort is only one stop to Walt Disney World when you take the monorail to the park.  While staying at the Contemporary you can also visit their sister properties.  You just take the monorail and you can enjoy the different themed resorts.  You can experience the different scenery and the different types of restaurants.  For example, one of the sister resorts is The Polynesian, this is where you can dine on food that you would definitely find at a luau.

As much as I enjoyed staying at the Contemporary Resort I was a bit put off with my "accessible'" room.  The resort itself is very modern and true to its name, however my room definitely did not match the same contemporary vibe that was throughout the establishment.  The carpeting was thick and hard for me to push myself over and there was a rather high lip from the room to the lovely balcony I had.  The bathroom was nice and spacious with a lot of turnaround room.  The sink and counter-top, however, were designed in such a way that I had a small amount of knee clearance from a side angle, but there wasn't any clearance for my legs to go under the sink.  If I tried to go directly under the sink straight on I was about a foot away from the sink.  That was the most frustrating part about my stay.

I do want people to know that this Resort was very convenient for me since the conference was on-site, in addition it is also very family oriented as well.  If you were visiting for leisure purposes you would never know that this Resort hosts a lot of conferences, even more than one simultaneously.

There are two outdoor pools on-site, one is in the shape of Mickey Mouse.  There is also a chair lift that one can use to transfer from their wheelchair to be able to lower themselves down into the pool.  There are also two gift shops that will meet the needs of any Disney fan.  Finally, one of the most exciting dining experiences is at Chef Mickey's.  This restaurant has Mickey and all of his pals roaming around as people eat and they will take photos with you and sign autograph books in between there times of dancing with the crowd.

The staff was delightful, and I didn't want for anything for the seven days I was there.
