One of the best vacations ever......
Luxurious, Romantic, Quiet, Scenic, Tropical, Beach, Golf, Spa, Hiking, Tennis, Water Sports, Honeymooners, Not For Families
July 9 2008: Stayed here for our honeymoon and it was everything we expected it to be - quiet, beautiful, tranquil, exquisite and extremely relaxing. Our room had an ocean view and it was beautifully decorated with a large plasma flat screen. Very clean with turn down service. The bed was the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in...frette linens and a large bathroom with a separate over-sized tub. The bath products were L'Occitane.

The staff was amazing and so friendly. The management had fresh flowers delivered to our room every few days.

The grounds were gorgeous and tropical. Situated on the Manele Bay with a private beach for all guests. The beach has unlimited water, sunscreen and rafts/beach chairs/towels etc for you to use.

The pool attendants fan you, spritz water, offer you sunscreen and carry your towels for you (I kinda felt funny with this service the first two days and then I kinda just went along with it realizing this is their job and part of the whole luxury experience) Just make sure you tip the sweet fritters :)

It is a beautiful resort and very, very secluded. There is not much to do in the city so plan on sticking around the resort. You can take a bus into town but the town of Lanai is very tiny and we walked it in less than 15 minutes. I believe it had about 8 stores/galleries and a little grocer.

The other sister resort/lodge owned by Four Seasons was under construction so we could not see the grounds or use the golf course. I hear it is amazing there as well.

The resort is about 30/40 minutes from the small airport. The hotel does have a shuttle service to and from airport. Oh, yah you must take a small puddle jumper plane to get there from Oahu, which take about 30 mins (my least favorite about getting to the island)

The resort's restaurants are amazing and we had the breakfast buffet every morning which was massive and incredible. They had an array of choices and it changed every day so it was not like you were eating pancakes and eggs benedict every a.m. They offered sushi, fresh fruits, french toast, salads, crepes, eggs, muffins, cereals and smoothies etc. Their room service menu ROCKED and was offered 24 hours a day = beautiful :) They have board games and backgammon for guests to play as well as many other activities.

They have an open air bar/lounge room with cushy chairs that overlooks the ocean where you can play pool and darts - we lived in here in the evenings. They offered some live music a few nights, too. The whole hotel has beautiful furnishings and artwork. The lobby and seating areas are all open with breathtaking views.

The spa was one of the most relaxing and beautiful spas I have been to. We indulged in a couple's massage outside in a cabana surrounded by tropical foliage and waterfalls , which I highly rec for all couples. All of the treatments were great and well priced considering it is the Four Seasons.

When we were there it was a lot of honeymooners and quite a few pregnant women (you know the couples who are getting away before the little bambino arrives) There were a few babies but it was quiet and everyone was lovely.

I travel a lot and have been to some incredible places, including other Four Season hotels but I have to say that this hotel and little island is in my top five. I have never seen my husband so relaxed in the 7 years I have known him. As a matter of fact, I think it was the last ;) He had the best time of his life there as well.

It is beautiful and everything a luxury resort should be. If they don't have it, they will get it and accommodate you.

All of the rooms are beautiful - the garden views are just as beautiful as the ocean views. The pictures on their website are exactly what you see and get. Perfection!

There are some killer hiking trails that I recommend for everyone. Bikes for your enjoyment.

Basically, if you are seeking quiet time, relaxation and want some SERIOUS pampering, this is your hotel. If you want to golf go to the lodge, but if you want to float in the pool w/ a good book, sip cocktails poolside and do absolutely nothing but relax..... then you should stay here!

Manele Bay on Lanai

This is the first review written about this hotelOctober 29 2007: Superb, quiet beach resort on Lanai (Hawaii).  Lanai is one of the small, quiet Hawaiian islands.  In fact very quiet.  There is a little village in Lanai with a few galleries and a cafe (that's it).  It was the Pineapple plantation island and now has a population of about 3,000 people.

The beach resort has it's sister "lodge" resort in the middle of the island (Lodge at Koele).  We stayed in both, and they are top notch.  They are the only two resorts/hotels on the island.

The beach resort offers variety of room types and locations.  Several beach hangouts to choose from.  Hikes around the coves and through the forest (or up into the hills from the Lodge).  Great scuba diving (even for beginners).  Lots of other activities at the Lodge (horses, skeet shooting, hiking, lawn bowling!).

We are not golfers, but the courses looked spectacular, and we heard good things.

Service was exceptional.  Food and dining options were excellent (with variety to choose from at both resorts).

We flew into Honolulu and connected to Lanai.  A great trip!
