Classic, Stylish, Business People, Not Budget, Not Rustic

This hotel is currently (spring 2007) going through a complete renovation. We stayed two nights in a basic room that had not yet been updated. There was no food & beverage and if you wanted ice, a bellman brought it. I am recommending this property for two reasons.
The location
The superior customer service from each employee
I can see that the Affinia will be wonderful once the refurbishment is complete and despite having zero amenities, the staff was overly friendly and helpful and they called us by name at each opportunity.
Location. The downtown Affinia Chicago is located in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago, Ill. This property stands one block from Michigan Avenue Magnificent Mile shops and is positioned two blocks from the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Historic Water Tower. Hotel Features. Natural light streams through floor to ceiling windows that front the hotel's terazzo floored lobby. On site dining is offered at C House, where celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelson's staff presents seafood specialties and a raw bar. The wine cellar boasts 300 global varieties, while homemade desserts provide delicious options that complete each meal. The C View scenic rooftop bar and terrace serves sophisticated cocktails. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas, for a fee. Windows and mirrors create airy ambiance in the 24 hour, complimentary fitness facility that houses cardiovascular and weight training equipment, and free weights. SpaAffinia offers in room massage, for a fee. The Jet Set Pet Program provides traveling pets with complimentary beds, mats, bowls and treats.
Guestrooms. The 29 story Affinia Chicago offers 215 guestrooms furnished with custom designed sofa sleepers, in set wood bookcases, antique style benches and scalloped curtains. Beds offer reading lights and are dressed with pillowtop mattresses, down comforters, 250 thread count linens and six pillow choices. Tech savvy room enhancements include high speed wired and wireless Internet access for a fee, 32 inch flat screen televisions, and MP3 adaptors. Bathrooms contain terry cloth bathrobes and are stocked with Aveda bath products. Rooms include minibars and laptop compatible in room safes.
Expert Tip. The Affinia Chicago provides the BYOB Kit, the Stay Fit Kit and the Walking Tour Kit that help ensure a great stay while visiting the Chicago area. For example, the Walking Tour Kit features an iPod Shuffle or Nano pre loaded with walking tour and workout playlists.
