March 11 2008: The Drake was always my hotel of choice when traveling thru Chicago. I have stayed at The Raffaelo and Sofitel and I always went back to The Drake. The staff is always nice and very helpful. I always lucked out with great rates and rooms.

The best room is the Deluxe King Suite with a lake view. The beds are super comfy (prob one of the best beds I have exp'd on my travels) The sheets, comforters and pillows are divine.

The rooms are bright and very clean.

I am not a big fan of their afternoon tea but it is a big attraction for many tourists. I have never dined in the restaurants however always ordered room service and was always pleased.  Like most hotels, they charge a lot for the service but I was never disappointed with this convenience or the food.

Good location and very close to Michigan Avenue and Rush Street for those shoppers. During the  Xmas holidays it is festive and beautifully decorated.

Def romantic and cozy! The Drake is a classic beautiful hotel and I highly recommend it. I am not so sure it would be the best option for kids but def for a gals weekend or a romantic getaway with your sweetie :)

The Drake - Nickle & Dime
Downtown, Classic, Historic, Shopping, Not Boutique, Not Hip, Not Rustic, Not Cozy, Not Tropical
This is the first review written about this hotelNovember 6 2007: I was just at the Drake for one quick night in Chicago on business.  All I wanted was a comfortable room, internet access and a workout room.  The rooms were perfectly nice (very comfortable bed) and the staff was friendly.  My big complaint is that they charged me a daily rate to use the internet in my room ($11.40/24 hrs) and $10/day to use the gym.  The gym is clean and spacious, but doesn't have a locker room and does not give out bottles of water.  Given the daily charge, it doesn't get crowded, but I felt that I would have been better off going to the Equinox down the street.  I'd rather the Drake charge $20 more per night and give me all the amenities for free.   If you are OK paying per diem for all of these things (or if you don't plan to use them), then the hotel is nice, otherwise I would pick something else downtown.
