Frequent US-domestic business traveler with a yen for the offbeat, boutique, and photogenic. Typically on the road 2-3 days/week to some of America's great second and third (sometimes fourth) tier cities.
July 11 2007: Newly renovated under the Holiday Inn flag, the Aladdin is the former Citi Centre Plaza Hotel in downtown KC, immediately across from the Convention Center. The 193 rooms are all brand new and very comfortable. Flat screen TV, free wifi, good toiletries, and a modern-ish/funky room design. I would say that most of the colors and patterns were a little late-90s, but for a Holiday Inn (!) this was beyond expectations. The 'martini' bar, named the Zebra lounge, sits on the mezzanine floor above the lobby. Not necessarily hidden or intimate, it is perfectly functional for a few drinks.
Very good service from an enthusiastic team. Parking is available across the street or you can valet and they'll park it across the street in the Convention Center garage for you.
Rate was competitive with nearby hotels and a little cheaper than similar historic hotels at Country Club Plaza. Worth staying at again.
